List of all installed packages ?

I did not find this in the documentation, even though I have been looking in many places. Must have missed it.

Is there a way of finding out what the list of installed packages is ?

I sometimes install a series of packages that could accomplish something and then choose the best, so it might be good for me to delete the unrelevant packages from time to time.

all installed packages: emerge --pretend --emptytree world
expressly selected (does not include dependencies): cat /var/lib/portage/world

You will probably be interested in emerge --depclean. Use with caution! (--pretend first)
