I'm looking at purchasing a new iBook, just a few questions the support rep couldn't answere. Can Mac OS X peacefully coexist with gentoo? Is is possible to resize the partition to make room for gentoo (something cheerful and happy like Partition Magic)? _________________ "99% of the people in this world are fools, and the rest of us are in great danger of contagion."

this will tell you all about it inclusing the installer. Also there are some IRC channels specifically for it. _________________ "Sex: breakfast of champions" - James Hunt |

I simply repartitioned the disk and reinstalled osx and then installed gentoo. Since you haven't been using the machine yet when you buy it, you won't loose anything in osx that a reinstall won't put back. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. What about the bootloader? You're gonna say "read the documentation" but I'm asking anyway. _________________ "99% of the people in this world are fools, and the rest of us are in great danger of contagion." |

1. Start the mac osx install disk
2. Repartition using the Disk Tool
3. Install OSX
4. Boot the gentoo livecd
5. Install Gentoo using the PPC Handbook
Installing the bootloader is part of the installation as described in the handbook.
And moved this thread to Gentoo on PPC, better off here. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered
