I´m thinking about installing Gentoo on my 5 weeks old ibook G4.... but i´m not sure.... Becuase i ´ve tried a debina sarge installation 2 weeks oga, but it was not working... i gave up at installing the bootloader yaboot.... - forget debian.
i´m i gentoo fan since i heard from it.
and now. Please tell me, will it work? easy or will it take much time?
and please tell me some pros and contras between osX and Gentoo Linux.

Yes, it will work perfectly, I'm using it on my ibook september 2005.
Acout the pros and contras, I don't know what to say as I haven't used Mac OSX very much, but I find gentoo is faster, and it's free, but on the other hand it's not so easy to configure and administrate. |

Airport drivers for latest ibooks use the bcm4318 chipset, wich still doesn't work very well, but it works. bluetooth works perfect. |

No cedega or winex for ppc, not even vmware.
Ipod and psp are easy to configurate to get them automatically mounted with hal.
You can use kerry, is a desktop search engine frontend do beagle, simmilar to spotlight.
In answer to your last question, you can use MOL (Mac On Linux)
About burning the ISO, you can use for example Toast.
See you |

The Disk Utility application included with Mac OS X (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app) will burn the ISO to CD just fine. I've used it to burn Gentoo x86, Gentoo ppc, NetBSD ppc, Ubuntu x86 ISOs. |

Sorry, if this is stupid question, but I'm starting with Gentoo PPC, just did my first install...
Question:
I have internal HD w/ MacOSX and external Firewire HD with Gentoo Linux, and I boot from the external firewire HD, would it be possible to run MOL and somehow reuse the existing installation of MacOSX in my internal HD?
