Hey,

I am trying to install GRUB2 on a new UEFI system for using my arch linux.

I have followed the instructions mentioned in this wiki entry: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GRUB2

But at the moment I have problems with executing the following:

Code:
efibootmgr --create --gpt --disk /dev/sda --part 1 --write-signature --label "GRUB2" --loader "\\EFI\\grub\\grub.efi"

Eventhough the in the following error message mentioned module was loaded manually, I always get:

Quote:
Fatal: Couldn't open either sysfs or procfs directories for accessing EFI
variables.
Try 'modprobe efivars' as root.

Arch Linux has by default the for UEFI systems necessary kernel settings:

Quote:
CONFIG_EFI=y
CONFIG_FB_EFI=y
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_EFI_PARTITION=y
CONFIG_EFI_VARS=m or y

Do anyone know what I could do for solving these problems?

Another thread I am searching for help (but in German): https://bbs.archlinux.de/viewtopic.php?pid=266424#p266424

Greetings

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Unsupported Software. @new-user, you might have better luck asking Arch Linux questions on the Arch Linux forums.

Do nobody have further information to this problem? It hasn't to be arch specific, just some options I could try.

i have no idea about UEFI nor do i know if the following helps or not, but saw this in the Kernel Changelog on heise.de :

http://www.heise.de/open/artikel/Kernel-Log-Was-3-0-bringt-3-Architektur-Infrastruktur-und-Virtualisierung-1274204.html?artikelseite=2

Quote:

maybe not a bad idea to try out latest kernel 3.0.rc ?

viel Glück :-)
