I'm trying to weed out the last few oddities on my PCEngines APU 1D4 - I don't like stuff show up as unclaimed using lshw ;)

But that's the case with my SMBus - I believe it's supposed to use i2c_piix4.
At least that's used when booting with acpi=off - that however causes usb 5 + usb 6 to go unclaimed.

When not booting with acpi=off the SMBus is unclaimed (lsmod reports i2c_piix4 being loaded, Used by 0)

Anybody knows how to proceed?

This dmesg-snippet might be related?
Code:
[    4.430343] ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x0000000000000B00-0x0000000000000B07 conflicts with OpRegion 0x0000000000000B00-0x0000000000000B0B (\SMB0) (20150204/utaddress-254)
[    4.430368] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver

ACPI is using the smbus controller (for fan speed settings, etc). I'm afraid unless you add "acpi_enforce_resources=lax" to your kernel commandline,
you cannot attach a kernel driver to it (for good reason!)

Thanks - I gathered that much from googling around later last night :)
Seems like I want to not compile i2c_piix4 - then I dont' get the warning in dmesg either :)
