Hi,

I am trying to get a dual boot system oin my Acer aspire.

I followed this guide :

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/UEFI_Dual_boot_with_Windows_7/8

Kernel is compiled using Genkernel, and is in /boot etc.
However, how do I tell the system/laptop recognize my kernel ( where does it look for a kernel) ?

At what stage during boot I should see what ? ( I haven't got a clue what it should look like.... ).

Basically, I would like to make sure that rEFInd is used, since right now I do not know how to check.

Thanks for any advice.

Alex.

Ok, I got a bit further. The first problem was that the Windows bootmanager was still used.

Just moving the new bootmanager up in the list in the EUFI-boot settings solved this :-)

I know, this sounds obvious, but somehow I assumed the whole rEFINd installation process would make the new one the default...

Anyway, rEFInd now works.
