I've been trying to install Gentoo onto my system; however, when it came to setting up the kernel, I ran into some issues. When I tried to execute "emerge --ask --verbose sys-kernel/gentoo-sources", it Failed to emerge sys-devel/bc-1.06.95-r1, and threw an error at the end:

* ERROR: sys-devel/bc-1.06.95-r1::gentoo failed (compile phase):
* (no error message)
*
* Call stack:
* ebuild.sh, line 133: Called src_compile
* environment, line 2227: Called die
* The specific snippet of code:
* emake AR="$(tc-getAR)" || die

As far as I can tell, the error seems to be arising from this part here: make -j13 -112 AR=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ar where, of course, -112 is an invalid argument. But I can't tell where that is coming from or how to fix it. I assume it's something I've set up wrong that causes the 'emake AR="$(tc-getAR)"' to call the faulty make, but I can't figure out for the life of me where that would be. I'm a complete noob at this so I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks in advance.

Here's the info I could gather:

Portage 2.2.26 (python 3.4.3-final-0, default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/gnome/systemd, gcc-4.9.3, glibc-2.21-r2, 4.1.15-gentoo-r1 x86_64)

-l [N], --load-average[=N], --max-load[=N]

Don't start multiple jobs unless load is below N.

-L, --check-symlink-times Use the latest mtime between symlinks and target.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Problem is I don't explicitly call that. It's called as a part of my emerge command. How would I change things so that the make is called with the proper flag?

Oh, I’m dumb. I misread what you said. How would I change the MAKEOPTS?
