I built a new box last year. My system is entered on an i7-4770k
and video adaptor is a Quadro k620 and this is the problem.

My monitor combination is SGI 1600SW with SGI Multi Link adaptor.
I've had the monitor a long time, but due to the age, I believe, there is
a problem with EDID. The MLA remains on all the time, which is not the problem, but what is the problem is it loses sync thus no image on the 1600sw.

I need to replace this monitor and would like suggestions
with one compatible with the Quadro. My budget is nit
large, but I might spend more for a better monitor.

Suggestions are much appreciated. My primary apps
include Blender, Freecad, Inkscape, GIMP, and Hugin.
and similar.

Thanks

ASPushkin, found a short article about your monitor on wp
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SGI_1600SW
incredible hardware for its time.

Since the SGI monitor had an 1.6 aspect ratio I would assume
you'd probably prefer something similar maybe in the 24" range.
There is for example the DELL U2415 with an IPS panel (1920x1200 pixels)
There are still cheaper TN panels around with identical resolution and
aspect ratio but one has to dig a bit deeper to find worthwhile offers.
Review of the DELL:
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2415.htm

Smaller sized monitors in the 16:10 ratio class can be found in the 22" range.
Those are somewhat cheaper but I would say you're paying relatively more
than for the 24" class.

theotherjoe thanks for the suggestions. I did buy a 24-ionch, but it is a Acer. It's worked well, but I really like my 1600sw.

I contacted a company in Ohio that makes rebuild kits for the monitor. They have a number of them around their office
and Nik that I spoke with knows one of the SGI designers. I jumped in and purchased the kit, which was about 90 dollars (US).
I've yet worked on the rebuild as I don't have the time, but will post my experience when I complete it. If all goes well the Acer will be a back up.
It cost just a bit more than the kit.

Thanks a gain for the information. It will surely be in my reference kit!

Thanks
