Gentlemen,

I recently installed Gentoo on my notebook (ex-Debian user), but I am having a hard time trying to sort some issues out.

First of all, I apologize for my weak English , hope I can make myself clear.

Everything went fine on global installation , but I just can`t make KDE run properly... I`ve set xdm to load sddm, Nvidia card is configured (also configured an intel card, as I have both on this notebook, hybrid), set .xinitrc, but nothing makes KDE work directly from boot - only a black screen.

If I log to another tty and /etc/init.d/xdm stop, and then run a startx (as root), KDE runs fine (although in a very low resolution, as low as 640x480 - didn`t managed to solve this also).

But if run startkde, as root or normal user = black screen... if I run startx or startkde as normal user = black screen

It only works if I run startx as root

Would someone try to help me, I would be grateful

Try adding sddm to the video group

Thanks, mrbassie... I've already done that (did it again now, rebooted the machine.. black screen)
