According to this HuC firmware is something I want.
I built HuC and DMC firmware into kernel. However, there is no sign in dmesg HuC is loaded. I can see DMC loaded.
Code:
[    0.575591] [drm] Finished loading DMC firmware i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_01.bin (v1.1)

Is there some extra step needed to load HuC?

HEVC playback works without it, at least with Kodi/VA-API.

Sounds like they're working on it.

I also found this linked in the wiki... https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9235689/

I guess DMC is the best we get for now... unless they fixed it already between 4.9 and current.
