I successfully upgraded GCC from 5.* to 6.* using the wiki guide(also did the emerge one shot linker). Afterwards, I did a world update.

Now I am trying to compile my prexisting linux-4.12.12-gentoo because I added a feature in it. But I am getting a compiling error:

Ah...the plot thickens. It seems my linker is broken after the update/upgrade. Not to familar with ld since I do not use it manually. How would I fix this?

Code:

Update - I was able to fix this by recompiling binutils with 'emerge -1 binutils'

dman777,
Really glad to hear you were able to solve your issue.
May I bother you to add a SOLVED tag in the threads title?
