Hi all.
Today I updated my kernel from 4.9.95 to 4.14.52, rebuilt and installed modules:
Code:
eselect kernel set 2
cp /usr/src/linux-4.9.95-gentoo/.config /usr/src/linux
cd /usr/src/linux
make && make modules_install

During the build process I was asked for some new options missed in old config and selected defaults for those options.
Then I copied kernel to /boot, updated grub.cfg and rebooted. All seems fine except USB.
No USB mouse, no USB keyboard, no USB drives. Neither USB2 nor USB3.
I re-checked for CONFIG_USB_EHCI_HCD and CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD - they both set to "y".
When attaching/detaching mouse or USB drive no any messages in dmesg.
But if I attaching PS/2 keyboard - my USB keyboard starts to work.
And works even I disconnecting PS/2 keyboard.
But mouse and drives doesnt work at all.

So I decided to try other kernel and installed vanilla 4.17.3. Built it, rebooted and got the same result - no any USB device accessible.

Am I missed something important about kernel update?

My config: https://pastebin.com/SCa6HMdL

Blind_Sniper,

Code:
# CONFIG_USB_PCI is not set
PCs want that on as USB is attached via PCI.
Embedded systems may not have PCI at all and can save RAM by turning it off.

Its a newish option,
