First off, I'm not sure if this belongs here (as a hardware question), in unsupported software (not being part of Gentoo's portage tree), or in Gamers & Players (as I'm wanting to do this to support one specific Wine+Steam game), so if the topic needs moving, I get it. Now on to my problem...

No Man's Sky's new update just landed, and I wanna dip back in there and see what all has changed, blah blah. After doing some research, this game requires the OpenGL 4.5 compatibility mode that isn't implemented in mesa et. al., which is why the whole thing renders white. According to Gentoo's wiki on the closed-source amdgpu-pro drivers, and a few reddit posts, that fixes the render problem and gets things to play well enough, but the wiki simply states that it's not offered by the official repository and goes no further on the topic.

I did find the guide listed at Warwick's Center for complexity science, attempted to follow it using apdgpu-pro-17.40 and both gentoo-sources-4.16.3 (which was the newest kernel at build time for this PC) and, to be more in line with the guide, gentoo-sources-4.9.122. In both cases, I got compiling errors while building the kernel module using dkms (which I assumed needed to succeed in order to have the pro drivers work)

Has anyone else got the amdgpu-pro drivers working on Gentoo, or anyone willing to help me work through cryptic compiler warning/error outputs?

Hello,
for installation, I think you can follow the wiki page: AMDGPU.
Portage will ask you to download the driver from AMD site and save it in your distfiles directory.
For problem with kernel, post the errors in this section of forums.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it's the closed source drivers talked about at https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/AMDGPU-PRO that I need, to fix some compatibility problems with the open source drivers. I followed the wiki page you linked me back when I first set up this computer, and already have my graphics card working for most things, and was never asked to manually download something from AMD's site when I did so.
At the moment, I don't have access to my compile errors. I'll see if I can reproduce them later today.
