Hi,

I'm having trouble running freeradius as non-root because I can't seem to find the right way to allow the radius user to have the right access rights.

Several wikis on-line suggest things like:

chgrp radiusd /var/locks/winbindd_privileged

but I can't seem to find winbindd_privileged anywhere on Gentoo.

Any clues?

I don't use samba on Gentoo and don't know what $LOCKDIR defaults to. On CentOS the directory is /var/lib/samba/winbindd_privileged. Rather than changing group ownership I would add the radiusd user to the wbpriv group, or add it to the directory via POSIX ACL (setfacl -m r:radiusd:rx .../winbindd_privileged).

OK, thanks.

This seems to be it on Gentoo:

Code:
# setfacl -m u:radius:rw /var/lib/samba/winbindd_privileged
