I have following doubt when assigning SWAP to one server.

Yesterday people from Storage team gave us a new Lun for SWAP purposses ONLY.

The Operating Symtem sees the Lun like /dev/sdh

Because is a 100% SWAP disk, I assigned this disk as "RAW" letting "mkswap" doing the hard work.

# mkswap /dev/sdh
# swapon /dev/sdh
# echo '/dev/sdh swap swap defaults 0 0' >> /etc/fstab
# free -m
Good!. The output matches the expected.

However one question remains. Should I partition the disk with "fdisk/cfdisk/part" for getting something like /dev/sdhX ?.

Sometime, I read that the best choice is letting the disk 100% RAW, and let the linux tools take care of that!! but I Could´t find that paper again.

What´s the best choice for an entire swap disk? Partition it?

Only use partitions if you need to put more than one block-oriented system on the device. If the device is dedicated entirely to swap, leave it as is.
