I decided to try the switch from udev to eudev today but ended up switching back because eudev seems to force persistent net dev names. I seem to be into minority around here (at least judging from the complaints) that has made peace with predictable net dev names. Switching to eudev took that away and screwed me until I manually brought up the interface after reboot and re-installed udev.
I thought predictable net dev names were now the default and you had to opt out. It seems that udev has reversed that, although I couldn't find a way to opt out of persistent net names. It kept generating the persistent net rules file. Is there a way to go predictable net names under udev? _________________ "Blessed is he who finds happiness in his own foolishness, for he will always be happy". |

Which version did you try? With which use flags? 1.10-r2 behaves correctly for me, although I did see a note somewhere that 9999 follows upstream. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

Latest stable: 1.10-r2
USE flags: aha! I think rule-generator is what screwed me. _________________ "Blessed is he who finds happiness in his own foolishness, for he will always be happy". |

I have no idea why I didn't post this origonally, but mine use flags are USE="gudev hwdb keymap kmod modutils openrc rule-generator" _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
