Hi,

Run out of ideas!

My RAID10 (INTEL IMSM) won't start RW. It's stuck in Auto-Read-Only

I have upgraded mdadm to latest v3.3.2

Stopped raid and reassembled.

mdadm --assemble --scan
or
mdadm --assemble --scan --force ----run --auto=yes

My othe RAID0 on Intel IMSM runs fine, it has my /boot / partitions on it, took some fiddling in genkernel but got there. Also the Raid 50 (another nested array not intel imsm) eventually i got working.

But this one eludes me....
It always starts as Auto-Read-Only.

Any ideas how to get this RW?

Thankies..

Not sure if it's mdmon related, Not sure if what I am doing is wise.....
But most of what I have read all points to 'A write process will get the partion to RW.

But this is a data partion, not swap or anything on it, it won't mount to write to. Usure about doing a swapon swapoff on it.

I have tried a force check by setting

Code:
echo check > /sys/block/md125/md/sync_action

But this takes 380Mins approx on a 6TB array, not shabby speed for the size, but not something I want to be doing....

I have also tried (what leads me to a mdmon handover issue) issuing...

Code:
mdmon --all --takeover
mdadm --assemble --scan --run --force --auto=yes

Still leaves the array in auto-read-only.

BUT if i set this on the array in question (md125)

Code:
echo active /sys/block/md125/md/array_state

I can get the array into a write state, but next reboot and it is rebuilding..

Being a newbie, I am unsure on what I am doing ATM.

Still doing lot's of reading so any insights from you Raid experts would be good.

BTW,

Code:
mdadm --readwrite /dev/md125

Does nothing, and (sdc,d,e,f being the members)

Code:
mdadm --examine /dev/sd[c-f]

Shows 'Dirty State' to be clean.

Any sugestions / ideas.......

auto-read-only is not an error, it's purely informational (you have a working md, but it wasn't written to since it was assembled).

If your problem is auto-read-only, you don't have a problem.

If you do have a problem, it's something else. Can you show /proc/mdstat, mdadm --examine /dev/sd*, file -s /dev/md* and so on? I'm not sure if I can help though, I'm not nearly as familiar with imsm as I am with regular mdadm...
