Fresh install, kernel 3.15 genkernel.
Video was installed and configured like it is written at http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Fglrx.
Openrc starts, goes through udev and then sticks at "Waiting for uevents to be processed".
Does not react to keyboard, cannot cancel or switch to another VC.
Video works OK with Windows 8 on the same machine.
After changing videocard to geforce, booting from Ubuntu Live, chrooting to Gentoo, fixing make.conf, emerge-updating and installing nvidia-drivers boot goes OK.
But I'd still like to use that Radeon with Gentoo.
How to fix/debug the problem?

For the ATI video cards, you need ati-drivers (closed source/fglrx) or x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati (open source drivers/radeon).
Also, you are going to need either linux-firmware or radeon-ucode installed, the prior is the recommended one, as it'll supply most of any other firmware you may need.

Just a suggestion, you could switch to using the xf86-video-ati instead (it's the open source drivers), it won't have as good of performance, but it will let you get your system up and running, then you can switch over. You may also want to pastebin your kernel's config, to see if something there needs to be fixed.
