I am trying to compile the kernel for the Raspberry Pi. In fact, I did it and everything is working except some modules are missing.

I cannot configure the kernel compile to include the module selected by option CONFIG_RPCSEC_GSS_KRB5=m because the option is simply missing from the configuration menu.

Why is that? How do I fix this? The code to compile the kernel is actually in the filetree and it should be possible to compile it. Someone did it with a different distro where the Kconfig and configuration files seem not suffer the problem with the Gentoo distro.

I am following the instructions from the wiki: http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Raspberry_Pi with the exception after the first or even the second steps in the Kernel and modules section:

Quote:
root #
make ARCH=arm bcmrpi_defconfig
root #
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/bin/armv6j-hardfloat-linux-gnueabi- oldconfig

I try to select the required option doing a make ARCH=arm menuconfig, but I never get the required option to show in the menu, neither in the .config file.

Any hints? How to solve that problem and why it is not properly setup in first place when we clone the git repository?

Hello,

In menuconfig, use the search feature (the "/" key) and enter the symbol name RPCSEC_GSS_KRB5. It will say what is required to see the hidden option.

All the required options are set and the option doesn't show where it should in the menu. Here is a screen dump of the search result.

My question is how to make the option appearing in the menu?

BTW, even if I force the option just writing it in .config as CONFIG_RPCSEC_GSS_KRB5=y the .config file get overwritten when running make which invoke make oldconfig.

This thing is puzzling me.
