Hi Guys,

Ive got a problem running nvidia-drivers and a hardened system.

I understand that the X & tools use flags are masked for a reason. But i still want to build and test them.

However no matter what i do i cannot get portage to use those flags when i rebuld.

What do i have to do to get this done ?

There is no hardened desktop profile.
By default the hardened profile masks the X flag on nvidia (basically because both tend to break and you need to "un-mprotect" half your system anyways.
Create a directory /etc/portage/profile/package.use.mask/ (if it doesn't already exist) and put a file in there (e.g. named nvidia) that contains
Code:

x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers -X

Afterwards the parens around the X flag should be gone and it will pick up normal useflags. That said be warned again, that it'll likely break anyways and will need some heavy pax markings (iirc -m on most of the things that links against libGL.so (revdep-pax may come handy if you try it)).
