I have an Nvidia Optimus card, and I have the black-screen problem with auto-login enabled in slim. I have emerged nvidia-drivers, have DRM enabled as a module in my kernel config, and have ran several times:

Code:
emerge @module-rebuild

I also have set opengl to nvidia like so:

Code:
eselect opengl set 1

I have in ~/.xinitrc:

Code:

xrandr --setprovideroutputsource modesetting NVIDIA-0
xrandr --auto

Interestingly, if I export the display to :0 in a tty console and then try running the xrandr commands I get this output:

Code:

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 39 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 35 ()
     Value in failed request: 0x2b4
Serial number of failed request: 16
Current serial number in output stream: 17

Here is my /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-serverlayout.conf:

Code:

Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "layout"
    Screen 0 "nvidia"
    Inactive "intel"
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "nvidia"
    Driver "nvidia"
    BusID "PCI:3:0:0"
    #BusID "03:00.0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "nvidia"
    Device "nvidia"
    #Option "AllowEmptyInitialConfiguration"
    Option "UseDisplayDevice" "none"
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "intel"
    Driver "modesetting"
    BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "intel"
    Device "intel"
EndSection

I have tried commenting the UseDisplayDevice line, but nothing happens.

I've searched all over and can't find the specific solution for this problem, so help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
