I run `fcitx` in gnome-terminal , and get :
Code:
(ERROR-26636 /var/tmp/portage/app-i18n/fcitx-4.2.8.5/work/fcitx-4.2.8.5/src/frontend/xim/xim.c:240) Start XIM error. Another XIM daemon named ibus is running?
(ERROR-26636 /var/tmp/portage/app-i18n/fcitx-4.2.8.5/work/fcitx-4.2.8.5/src/lib/fcitx/instance.c:437) Exiting.

I am using fcitx in gnome 3.12 amd64 . Do I need to delete ibus ?

Thanks

@chrisyu , I have set ~/.xprofile like below :
Code:
eval "$(dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session)"
export XMODIFIERS="@im=fcitx"
export QT_IM_MODULE=fcitx
export GTK_IM_MODULE=fcitx

Did you set your environment correctly?

You could run fcitx-diagnose for detail messages.

Did you have ibus running?
Or you could remove ibus by setting USE like this.
But is not necessary for me.

Quote:

gnome-base/gnome-shell -i18n
gnome-base/gnome-control-center -i18n

ibus always runs automatically. How to prevent this?

I try to delete ibus with emerge -C, but emerge -avuND @world always installs it automatically. (Maybe gnome 3.12 need it)

Every time starting gnome 3.12, ibus always starts automatically.

How to do with this ?

Thanks

Check this link for disable ibus
https://fcitx-im.org/wiki/Note_for_GNOME_Later_than_3.6

As your current user
Code:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.keyboard active false

Thanks, your method got it.

Better add this to gentoo wiki page of fcitx.
