I've never seen this behavior before but this is sort of weird.

I noticed the fan in my eeePC 901 surging when idle. Every 4-5 seconds it makes a cycle of fast to slow fan speeds. If I use the CPU full bore, it will stay at the high speed.

Anyone seen this behavior? I figure that something like this was bound to happen as it is a control loop, but perhaps it just so happens that the control loop it's bound to oscillation. My eeePC 900A does not appear to have this behavior.

Running xfce...

May need to clean out its fan but perhaps there's a control somewhere to change this control feedback loop.

If it's on an old BIOS, you can use fancontrol on it. The newer ones replace everything with WMI junk that only the BIOS can access...
