Gentoo system, PCIe card with two USB 3.0 ports and two SATA ports.
Depending on what other cards i plug into the system, the USB 3.0 ports chip will or will not show up in lspci. Of course, when it not shows up, its not working.

Alas, i need a second ethernet card. I tried one model, with that one, the USB would show, but the ethernet didn't work reliable (stopped forwarding packets under traffic, had to run script to reset it). Another one didn't have this problem, but now again the USB doesn't show.

How can i better troubleshoot why the USB does not show up, i don't even understand how that could happen, can this be a bug in the BIOS, or really the linux kernel, should i try to figure out how all those crazy x86 interrupts are mapped or the like, and if so, how ? any troubleshooting that minimizes downtime is helpful ;-)

Here is current lspci

Here is what's missing:
Code:
07:00.0 USB controller: Renesas Technology Corp. uPD720202 USB 3.0 Host Controller (rev 02)

I think that ASMedia SATA is the SATA on the same PCIe card.

Btw: the problem seems to happen after i reboot the PC "warm". If i power it off and on, then the USB card shows up.
