I have a brightness problem on my Thinkpad E520 laptop (Intel i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz, 4GB RAM, Intel HD3000, AMD Radeon HD 6630M). When I log in, the brightness is set to max, and when I start decreasing it with the function key, the brightness starts decreasing in unusual steps. It seems like it's decreasing 2 or 3 steps at a time. When the indicator gets to a little less then half, the brightness is on minimum, and when I decrease it further, the brightness starts increasing again. I have googled the problem, tried various boot parameters (thinkpad-acpi.brightness_enable=1, acpi_backlight=vendor, acpi_osi=Linux, video.use_native_backlight=1...) and it still behaves the same or it's just stuck on max. The best result so far was when I created a /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf file with the following content:

Section "Device"
    Identifier  "Intel Graphics"
    Driver      "intel"
    Option      "AccelMethod"     "sna"
Option      "Backlight"       "intel_backlight" # use your backlight that works here
    BusID       "PCI:0:2:0"

(and I'm not sure if I used acpi_backlight=vendor). However, in this case, the brightness would start at max, decreasing would go 2 or 3 steps at a time, with no increasing in the end, but with the screen going black (or very dimmed) when on minimum. The increasing is also at 2 or 3 steps at a time. I need help diagnosing and fixing the problem. I have no ideas what else can I do. I'm sorry if my explanations weren't clear enough, I tried my best to explain the problem.
