Hi

I've finished a fresh Gentoo install.
While my fstab is configured with only a /home, a /, a swap, a /boot, as well as /tmp and the portage tmp in memory (tmpfs), if I run mount i am seeing plenty of other mounted points:

Code:
mqueue on /dev/mqueue
shm on /dev/shm #i already have tmpfs on /tmp so i'm not sure about that one...
configfs on /sys/kernel/config
cgroup_root on /sys/fs/cgroup
openrc on /sys/fs/cgroup/openrc
cpuset on /sys/fs/cgroup/cpuset
cpuacct on /sys/fs/cgroup/cpuacct

What's all that ?

Shm is a tmpfs mounted there for whatever reason, don't really remember why, and too lazy to check, but it's a solid one and it should be there.

Configfs is something the kernel mount I think, you might have seen it in the kernel config, I have some vague memory of seeing it there, again I don't really know why.

Openrc is unsurprisingly related to openrc, it drives the init script system, unless you use systemd.

Cgroup_root, and possibly cpuset, and cpuacct have something to do with cgroups.

Not really an expert, someone with more knowledge can surely give better answers.

Thanks for your answer. I was mainly concerned by the cgroups ones... which can be turned off from the kernel configuration.

If you ever see mount you don't recognize again, try googling the mountpoints, that should get you some answers.
