Hello!

I’m running latest kernel if possible. Lately I updated to sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.19.3 which seems to run stable. But apparently it only seemed that it was stable…

I’m now running sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.18.10 which are really stable.

This is the first time in years that I can reproduce to get a reboot without any error notification or whatsoever.

Steps to make kernel 3.19.3 reboot:
1) Startup as normal (I use systemd)
2) Login with kdm to KDE 4.14 (current unstable 4.x branch), X.org X11
3) Start whatever applications I normally use, but different ones. Sometimes Konqueror, Thunderbird, Firefox, Chrome, sometimes only Konqueror or only Thunderbird. It seems to doesn’t really matter.
4) Start a Konsole and mount my NFS remote share, I chose /nfs/vcr as my mounting point for it.
5) Copy a file from the remote NFS share to my local drive.

6) It will either reboot after a minute or two, earliest I experienced was after around 10 seconds after copying a file from the NFS share.

Which leads me to this question:
Q: Is Linux kernel 3.19 unstable?

I reproduced the same under kernel 3.18.10 and had no issues.

Request:
Can anyone confirm this please?

Thanks.
Then it must be something else…

I’ll wait for 3.19.4 or so to try again. I really have no idea what it could be. I use the same kernel config (using make oldconfig) with every kernel, so… big questionmark in my head.
