I did a bargain buying an Olivetti OLIPAD 100 and would like to install gentoo on it erasing android completely.

Specs:

http://www.olivetti.it/Tool/Product/Specs/view_html?idp=58&id_item=1101&t=2

It has a Nvidia Tegra v2 arm processor, duckgoing around I see, if I understanded, a raspberry-like hardware "nvidia development kit", do I need it or can install from a linux pc?

I use gentoo from some years but not a programmer, and only on amd64 desktop.

I can read the device from lsusb, and the tablet connects well in archive mode

In android forums I found those operations:

http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Engineering_Bootloader
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Replace_Recovery_Partition
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fastboot

Is this the right way to unlock my tablet and have it ready for gentoo?
The guide says that a mistake flashing the rom (512MB) can be not recoverable, how can I prevent a loss of the tablet?

You might not want to try putting Linux on a tablet using Gentoo. Some of the drivers might not be there for the tablet.

Try using Ubuntu first:
