I use an encrypted swap partition:
Code:
$> grep swap /etc/fstab
#/dev/mapper/crypt-swap none            swap            sw              0 0

$> grep -v '#' /etc/conf.d/dmcrypt | xargs
swap=crypt-swap source=/dev/sda3
and do wonder, what's the best way to prevent swapon during boot.
Removing /etc/init.d/swap/ from runlevel "default" was wrong, I do assume that commenting out the line in /etc/fstab is right - but why ?

Do you have either swap or swapfiles in boot(/default) runlevel?

AFAICS from the init-files they both do an swapon -a (-e) which enables swap on entries in fstab? (unless noauto flag is set in fstab)

Which makes me wonder.... why two init-scripts??
