I installed a new gentoo system and I find that I can't mount by hand.
The weird part is that mount command results success but the mount point is not there.

For example:
Code:
localhost / # blkid /dev/sdc1
/dev/sdc1: UUID="73F3-B39C" TYPE="vfat" PARTUUID="9ac7475a-5c83-4a2d-9683-11619f49d02c"
localhost / # mount -v /dev/sdc1 /boot
mount: /dev/sdc1 mounted on /boot.
localhost / # echo $?
0
localhost / # mount | grep /boot
localhost / # ls /boot
localhost / #

However the sysfs, procfs, devtmpfs etc. are mounted normally by systemd when system starts.

Code:
localhost / # uname -a
Linux localhost 4.0.0-gentoo #8 SMP Sun Apr 26 10:50:00 2015 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

What is the output of emerge --info? Did you make the mistake of installing systemd? I recall someone reporting a similar problem where they could mount a filesystem, but systemd decided the filesystem should not be mounted and immediately unmounted it.

Thanks for your hint, Hu.

Yes it is because my kernel configuration does not meet systemd requirement (CONFIG_FHANDLE).
The problem disappears after I updated my kernel with the new configuration.
