Hi guys,

I'm installing gentoo on my thinkpad t510. I got to the point in the AMD64 manual where I do emerge-webrsync and I got the following error :

emerge-webrsync: error: could not find 'portageq' ; aborting

I didn't modify much from the default settings. I didn't use any compile options. I also didn't use the mirrorselect tool at first as suggested in the guide but I tried using it afterward and it didn't change anything

I'm using the minimal cd to install .

Just wondering if anyone has any idea what my problem might be. Thanks!

suspect you were not properly in the chroot when you ran emerge-webrsync.
do you get something like
Code:
find /usr -name portageq

/usr/bin/portageq
/usr/lib64/python-exec/python2.7/portageq
/usr/lib64/python-exec/python3.3/portageq
/usr/lib64/portage/python2.7/ebuild-helpers/portageq
/usr/lib64/portage/python3.3/ebuild-helpers/portageq

Code:
find /usr -name portage

/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/portage
/usr/lib64/python3.3/site-packages/portage
/usr/lib64/portage
/usr/lib64/portage/pym/portage
/usr/local/portage
/usr/share/portage
/usr/share/crossdev/etc/portage

I think I figured out the problem. It's true that I wasn't in chroot properly, because I accidentally used the x86 minimal cd instead of the AMD64 one! I'm going to try to install again tonight.
