I do not think so, kernel driver loads the fimware it needs. Your firmware may be corrupted.

toralf,

I suspect that your fimware file is OK on disk but that its becoming corrupt in the device for some reason.
If the disk file were corrupt, it either would not load or you would fet those messages more frequently.

It may be a power supply (to the device) issue or a failing device.

I'm not sure what the restarting does. It may reload the firmware, which would fix the problem until the next time.

yep - it suddenly started few weeks ago - the laptop is new, so I do argue, that the kernel might be somehow the culprit.

It won't hurt to try with different kernels and firmware files.

Even new hardware fails. Random failures can happen at any time ... err randomly :)
