I want to install Gentoo on a new computer from usb stick. I want to access the booted usb liveCD with ssh (putty)

I did follow this guide:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/LiveUSB/Guide

The usb stick boots, I can give in my preferred keyboard. Then it starts searching drives sda1..6 but can't find anything...
can not find root block device.

btw shouldn't it search for sdb..?

what can I do next?

i'm going to try sys-boot/unetbootin

it's a x55A, yes it has a dvd,

I found in the bios a kind of boot protection, but I don't dare to remove the protection.
This system has Windows 8 installed and unfortunately I need this for running f* Steinberg Cubase.
I certainly don't want to buy Windows8 so i'm stuck with the oem version. And don't want a mac either.
When is Steinberg going to learn Linux is the os of the future

ALthoug I made a copy of every single partion on my drive I just don't trust Microsoft products when it comes to booting.
If I have forgotten a hidden bit or some filthy trick forcing people to by the full licence.
for the moment I have a cli VMware version of Gentoo on this one

I tried to boot on my Toshiba sat a200-237 and it works (it has no working cd or screen) This one will be my first Gentoo headless server.

Hi,

You probably have UEFI as bios. Sadly minimal gentoo cd can not boot into UEFI. Good news is that you can do without it: use SystemRescueCD. I think any other live distro will work too.
