Hi,
I have a general question to python! I just finished updating my world and I got the following message around a 1000 times:
Code:
 * It seems that you need to set USE_PYTHON to make sure that legacy
 * packages will be built with respect to PYTHON_TARGETS correctly:
 *
 *    USE_PYTHON='2.7'
 *
 * Please note that after changing the USE_PYTHON variable, you may need
 * to run 'python-updater' to rebuild affected packages.
 *
 * For more information on PYTHON_TARGETS and python.eclass
 * compatibility, please see the relevant Wiki article [1].
 *
 * [1] https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Python/PYTHON_TARGETS

So I read the article and it is clear what
Code:
USE_PYTHON, PYTHON_TARGETS, PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET
does but I have no idea what version I should put in there?

Here is my "eselect python list":
Code:
Available Python interpreters:
  [1]   python2.7
  [2]   python3.4 *

And I thounght I put this:
Code:
USE_PYTHON='3.4 2.7'

PYTHON_TARGETS="python3_4 python2_7"
PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="python3_4"

in my make.conf!

Can I do that or is there something I should change?

Thanks!

That's been working fine for me for the past several months - so go ahead ;)

Perfekt thanks!

The thing I'm a bit worried about is, if a new pathon version is released I have to change it by hand in my make.conf ... will there be a news entry for that so that I cant miss it?

I'm pretty sure the answer to both questions is yes (especially if you put those lines in make.conf - if not, the behavior is determined by your profile (eselect profile list) and what you've set using eselect python set, I guess)
