How do I remove the Firefox "Developer Edition" and install the normal edition instead?

The following post appears to be related, but offers me no solution: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7712134.html?sid=c3ee88a0c49c23aa16d64345c83ecb5a

Just by doing a world update I got the developer edition on two of my Gentoo stable systems. Both got version 38.1.0. I don't have ~amd64 set for Firefox. I have never had this problem before.

On the other system I got the normal edition reemerged somehow after a lot of attempts trying various things, but I don't know what combination succeeded. How do I get rid of the developer edition, step by step?

I've tried to reemerge firefox.
I've checked that I'm not using unstable, or that any unstable packages are pulled in that firefox depends on.
I've tried to edit my .mozilla/firefox/profiles.ini to delete the entry for the developer profile, and then also delete the folder for the new developer profile. When I restart firefox, it simply creates a new developer profile.

www-client/firefox-38.1.0. These are my USE flags for firefox:

Code:

+ + bindist              : Disable official Firefox branding (icons, name) which are not binary-redistributable according to upstream.
 - - custom-cflags        : Build with user-specified CFLAGS (unsupported)
 - - custom-optimization  : Fine-tune custom compiler optimizations (-Os, -O0, -O1, -O2, -O3)
+ + dbus                 : Enable dbus support for anything that needs it (gpsd, gnomemeeting, etc)
 - - debug                : Enable extra debug codepaths, like asserts and extra output. If you want to get meaningful backtraces see
                            https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Quality_Assurance/Backtraces
 - - egl                  : Enable EGL provider
+ + gmp-autoupdate       : Allow Gecko Media Plugins (binary blobs) to be automatically downloaded and kept up-to-date in user profiles
 - - gstreamer            : Add support for media-libs/gstreamer (Streaming media)
 - - gstreamer-0          : Use gstreamer:0.10 instead of gstreamer:1 for media support
 - - hardened             : Activate default security enhancements for toolchain (gcc, glibc, binutils)
 + + jemalloc3            : Enable or disable jemalloc3 (forced-on when supported prior to 38.0)
+ + jit                  : Enable just-in-time compilation for improved performance. May prevent use of some PaX memory protection features in
                            Gentoo Hardened.

As I read the thread that you linked, USE=bindist controls this. You have USE=bindist. VinzC had it at the beginning of the thread, and by partway through the thread, he had discovered that setting USE=-bindist resolved the problem, at which point the thread veered off to the discussion of how USE=bindist is a confusing way to control it.

Thanks, I guess I'm also confused. I don't see why this has anything to do with the issue, regardless of the true meaning of bindist. I've had bindist for a very long time, on multiple systems, and this is the first I've seen of this. I guess something has changed very recently regarding this.
