I recently purchased a Bluetooth speaker and I am now wondering if it will work with my Gentoo system.

My system is setup as openrc, eudev, minus pulseaudio.

I've looked around for a complete tutorial but I have not been able to find one.

Searching the forums seems to indicate that I must use bluez 4 instead of blue 5 five, because ALSA does not support 5, and the only way to use bluez 5 with a speaker it to use pulseaudio. I'm not willing to open the pulseaudio can of worms just to get a speaker to work. Is the bluez5/ALSA issue still a thing?

Also, I only compile a hand full of kernel drivers (*.ko files) for my kernel, are there some drivers that I need to compile to get ALSA to work with Bluetooth other than the Bluetooth drivers needed to communicate with any Bluetooth device?
