|I was able to get luks encryption to auto decrypt during boot by using a keyfile on a external usb storage device, using "genkernel --luks --lvm --install initramfs", and enabling the cryptsetup USE flag. I also had to add crypt_root, real_root, root_keydev, root_key, and dolvm to my kernel parameters.
Can I do basically the same thing in non luks mode? (plain mode i think?) Something like "genkernel --lvm --install initramfs" and then adding the appropriate kernel parameters such as real_root, root_keydev, root_key, cryptkey, crypto, and dolvm.
Like this archlinux guide for mkinitcpio but for genkernel.
I feel like I am probably going to have to learn how to make a custom initramfs.
I don't know about genkernel, but I followed this custom initramfs guide and modified it for my needs.
Thanks gentoo wiki authors!
