el muchacho,

Code:
$ equery b libstdc++.so.6
 * Searching for libstdc++.so.6 ...
sys-devel/gcc-4.8.4 (/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.8.4/libstdc++.so.6 -> libstdc++.so.6.0.19)
sys-devel/gcc-4.9.3 (/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.9.3/libstdc++.so.6 -> libstdc++.so.6.0.20)

Have you --depcleaned your active gcc?

What does
Code:
gcc-config -l
tell?

Hi,

thanks for your answer... i'm a bit embarrassed but hopefully this will help others: it's just the AppArmor profile I had set up that was blocking access to those new libraries as their path was changed...

:oops:
