Greetings. I faced a problem that when my system starts xserver displays just a black screen.
I've duplicated the thread, cause I'm not sure if I posted it to the right forum. Sorry for that.

you should use this folder

Code:
ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
20opengl.conf  nvidia.conf

AFAIK it does not matter how you name the files in this folder. I am not quite sure if the old structure which you used is suppored. Please move that xorg.config file to that directory i provided above.

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Xorg.conf
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/NVIDIA_Driver_with_Optimus_Laptops

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/X_server

[ 8.431] (II) NVIDIA GLX Module 358.09 Wed Oct 7 19:29:18 PDT 2015

Has issues, please use the previous version. They changed so much, that when you want to use the gentoo wiki way, or legacy guides, you need to use teh version earlier

media-video/nvidia-settings-355.11
x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-355.11-r2

I may recommend hardmasking 358.09 and up, until someone really figured it out how it works. See the other topics from a few days ago regarding htis version...

Please downgrade + check wiki. report back if it still does not works with my suggestion. You may read the last post from 24 hours regularly than you should have already seen that this nvidia version has issues.... and you use exactly this version.

Thank you for your answer!
Unfortunately, that didn't help.
I moved my xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/xorg.conf, falled back to nvidia-drivers-355.11-r2 - nothing changed.

Please check if you have a directory:
/var/lib/sddm
owned by sddm:root

I had the same issue, when this directory was missing, and sddm was not able to create it, and store its configuration.
