I'm trying to get PCI-passthrough to work with KVM on my hardware. However it keeps complaining about IOMMU.
CPU model is A8-3870 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (it does support virtualization and this part works well)
This line from dmesg describes my mobo:
Hardware name: To be filled by O.E.M. To be filled by O.E.M./Pure Platinum A75, BIOS 4.6.5 05/26/2012
I've done some research on the web, chipset A75 appears to be capable, but I can't find this option in BIOS. Too bad, at Sapphire's website I can't find anything related to A75 at all.

So, I'm looking for ideas. What can I do to get going?

There is PT-A8A75 written just below CPU socket.
The below link points to a fine description, though they missed pins for front-mounted USB ports.

Ah, this board has been designed for overclockers, It has builtin 2 digit display for temperature and error codes, several LEDs showing _something_, pins exposing voltage levels and stuff like that. And most interesting for me right now: power, reset, and CMOS reset buttons. No need to short them with a screwdriver when you're working _on_ it. Particularly the last one gives me some hope I could recover from bricking it.

Lots of useful stuff there but I don't see anything related to your issue.

A CMOS reset button does not help with bricking it. Something becomes bricked when a firmware update fails and you cannot have another go because the firmware that is still installed, if any, won't run.

Some boards have dual BIOS, so you can always recover, since you use the second copy to recover the bricked first copy.
Some boards have a recovery mode with absolutely no user interface. A small area of the EEPROM is not erased.
This program will read a BIOS image from floppy and flash it and tell you nothing in the process.

Some boards you need to use JTAG to recover in situ or remove the BIOS EEPROM (if its in a socket) to a EEPROM programmer.

Thanks Neddy,
I had a closer look at this mobo again and I noticed it's been set to secondary BIOS. I'd have to remove some peripherals to reach the switch though. I'm digging in related stuff to find some way to leverage this: if I could boot from secondary BIOS like I've been doing for a few years already and then flash primary one, it would be very encouraging to experimenting.

In the meantime, I wonder how similar mobos and peripherals are in terms of drivers compatibility. You know, in the world of windows you will get another driver for every single pendrive you stick in, and perhaps again after you reformat it. At the same time linux drivers support whole families of devices. I wonder if I could try something similar here. I found some warnings that even a different revision of the same board may not be compatible, but in the absence of vendor-provided image it's tempting to try some alternatives, like updates from other vendors (assuming I'd find them). Has anyone tried something like that?
