I've sound working on my setup, but it's a strange and inconvenient on how it has to work. Basically, the headphone jack works fine, but I can't any sound from the internal speakers without enabling "Loopback Mixing" in alsamixer and turning up the volume on the headphones. The headphones themselves can be muted, but the volume must not be zero. The setup is inconvenient because PulseAudio both mutes and turns down the volume on the headphones when none are attached, which turns off sound on the internal speakers unless I use alsamixer to turn it back. Anyway, why does "Loopback Mixing" need to be enabled? Is there a way to get sound from the internal speakers if the volume level on the headphones is set to zero?
