i upgraded from linux-4.1.12-gentoo to linux-4.1.15-gentoo-r1

i set the new symlink to /usr/srs/linux

and copy with midnight commander my old .config file from the "linux-4.1.12-gentoo" to the new "linux-4.1.15-gentoo-r1" directory.
Than i go into /usr/src/linux (i am sure that is linux-4.1.15-gentoo-r1) and than i make a
"make oldconfig"
but i see no changes?
Code:

make oldconfig
  HOSTCC  scripts/basic/fixdep
  HOSTCC  scripts/kconfig/conf.o
  SHIPPED scripts/kconfig/zconf.tab.c
  SHIPPED scripts/kconfig/zconf.lex.c
  SHIPPED scripts/kconfig/zconf.hash.c
  HOSTCC  scripts/kconfig/zconf.tab.o
  HOSTLD  scripts/kconfig/conf
scripts/kconfig/conf  --oldconfig Kconfig
#
# configuration written to .config
#

i make it again:
Code:
make oldconfig
scripts/kconfig/conf  --oldconfig Kconfig
#
# configuration written to .config
#

what does it mean?
there are no changes since "linux-4.1.12-gentoo"?

I saw the same thing. I assume that there are no changes to the configuration. There most likely are underlying code changes/bugs fixed, etc.

SarahS93,

That's common between minor revisions.

make oldconfig only shows things that have been added too.
Options that have been removed are silently dropped from the output file.
