While searching for a solution to my java script problems I noted that way back someone suggested an overlay for Palemoon and removing Firefox.

Brave is now in the works and I wonder if there is any interest in this browser. I personally would like to look at this, but I've never attempted an ebuild.
is anyone else interested?

TIA

AS Pushkin, (Alexandr Sergeiich?), Palemoon overlay already exists. See also this post.

Recently I've heard somewhere that building of Palemoon requires really much more RAM compared to the bare firefox, but I can't remember where. A vse-tak zhal'.

EDIT: # Sorry, my word seems to have invited a noise.

Palemoon requires a minimum of 12GB in PORTAGE_TMPDIR. That's defined in the ebuild.

I don't recall a particular RAM requirement, nor have I taken any notice of RAM usage during build.

What I do find interesting and a little bit unexpected is that build time is more in line with pre-version 36.x firefox than newer versions, although ff build times have been creeping up again recently.

Well the underlying code is mostly Firefox 24.x

Aleksandr Sergeyevich or Алекса́ндр Серге́евич

I had not been aware that Palemoon had an overlay, but Brave is being developed by the same folks that developed Firefox.

I've never attempted an ebuild, but I'm told Brave is also being developed for Linux. I believe that Brave will be even better than Firefox.

Well, not quite. Brendan Eich, who was a co-founder of Mozilla and an ex CEO of Mozilla (he left the company in April 2014), is the founder and CEO of Brave Software, the company that is developing the Brave browser.

I followed Fitzcarraldo's link and found this on the site.

Since they are replacing the existing ads with their own ads, then can effectively block viewing. So they want to turn all sites into pay sites. It sounded real good until then.

Another company that wants to own the internet.

That's exactly what I thought. So then I thought of making patches to Brave that would also block the ads that Brave would normally insert. I even thought of a name for that fork: Braver.

So there. Dare to be more brave than Brave.
