Hello there,

I'm using default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/plasma profile with KDE 4.14.16.
Whenever I insert a data CD burned by myself
Code:
tail -f /var/log/syslog

reports

Code:

Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.213983] sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#5 Add. Sense: Illegal mode for this track
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.213987] sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#5 CDB: Read(10) 28 00 00 03 49 d0 00 00 02 00
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.213990] blk_update_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 862016
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.225872] sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#6 FAILED Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.225876] sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#6 Sense Key : Illegal Request [current]
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.225878] sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#6 Add. Sense: Illegal mode for this track
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.225880] sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] tag#6 CDB: Read(10) 28 00 00 03 49 d0 00 00 02 00
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.225882] blk_update_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 862016
Mar 30 17:47:53 pathfinder kernel: [19107.225884] Buffer I/O error on dev sr0, logical block 107752, async page read

and so KDE does not offer any browsing of the CD.

Instead when I insert a DVD (also burned by myself) no error where reported:

Code:

Mar 30 18:06:10 pathfinder kernel: [20203.803770] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3
Mar 30 18:06:10 pathfinder kernel: [20203.807206] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A
Mar 30 18:06:10 pathfinder udisksd[3046]: Mounted /dev/sr0 at /run/media/smlki/LABEL on behalf of uid 1000

and browsing is supported.

So you may say that there is something wrong with that CD but the same media mounts perfectly under Linux Mint (which runs as a guest system using Virtual Box). Also the (gentoo) system is able to mount this "broken" CD by the mount command.

Any hints?

Regards
Sönke

what's syslog say when you mount it manually?
And will your system auto-mount other CDs? ie one that you didn't make?
