I installed Gentoo on the new motherboard and everything seems to work OK. But when I leave open a terminal I get (sometimes, not always) a strange list of messages from syslogd.
Code:

And then it stops and everything works as before as far as I can be sure of it. The order is not always the same, and this is the first time I see the NMI. If I look in /var/log/syslog then I see a bit more:

I'm at the moment running an emerge xsane as root, having a browser, a few terminals and filemanagers (konqueror) open.

Any ideas what is going on?

Spanik ...

the error is re nmi_watchdog, so one or other, or both, of the following kernel parameters should silence it (I forget if both are required, or just the former).

nmi_watchdog=0 nohpet

best ... khay
