The configuration is a linux kernel stub on partition 2. I have this configuration working on several other Dell machines. But I haven't been able to get it to work on a Dell 5810. I just recently upgraded the BIOS firmware from A07 to A12.

Every time I try to boot, I get the following.
Code:

No bootable devices found.
Press F1 key to retry boot.
Press F2 key to reboot into setup.
Press F5 key to run onboard diagnostics.

Here are the details.
Code:

# efibootmgr --version
version 0.12

The disk configuration is as follows:
Code:

# gdisk -l /dev/sda
GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.8.10

Partition table scan:
  MBR: protective
  BSD: not present
  APM: not present
  GPT: present

Found valid GPT with protective MBR; using GPT.
Disk /dev/sda: 3907029168 sectors, 1.8 TiB
Logical sector size: 512 bytes
Disk identifier (GUID): E570DAEB-7686-43CA-8A69-37E061B09D35
Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 34, last usable sector is 3907029134
Partitions will be aligned on 2048-sector boundaries
Total free space is 4029 sectors (2.0 MiB)

Number  Start (sector)    End (sector)  Size       Code  Name
   1            2048            6143   2.0 MiB     EF02  grub
   2            6144          268287   128.0 MiB   EF00  boot
   3          268288      3907027119   1.8 TiB     0700  rootfs

Though partition 1 exists, it is currently not being used.

The following shows the boot entries reported by the efibootmgr util:
Code:

# efibootmgr -v
BootCurrent: 0001
Timeout: 1 seconds
BootOrder: 0000,0001
Boot0000* Gentoo Linux VenHw(99e275e7-75a0-4b37-a2e6-c5385e6c00cb)
Boot0001* UEFI: PLDS DVD+/-RW DH-16AES PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x11,0x4)/Sata(0,65535,0)/CDROM(1,0x4c,0x4000)..BO

The Boot0000 entry was created as ...
Code:

# efibootmgr -c -p 2 -L "Gentoo Linux" -l "\\efi\\boot\\bootx64.efi"

as well as various combinations.
Code:

# mount /dev/sda2 /boot
# tree /boot
/boot
|-- EFI
|   `-- Boot
|       `-- bootx64.efi
`-- lost+found

List of block devices ...
Code:

Wizumwalt ... your ESP (sda2, EF00) is mounted as /boot and (from the presence of 'lost+found') seems to be ext{2,3,4} rather than fat32.

best ... khay
