CaptainBlood,

gcc-5.3 is in testing now. It has some improvements over 5.2.

Moreover 5.3 is marked unstable, while 5.2 is not marked at all. ;-)

Thank you.

CaptainBlood,

I've using 5.2 then 5.3 for a week or so before 5.2 went into arch. 5.3 won't go stable until the entire stable tree will build and work with 5.3.
There will be a tracker bug for that once a 5.x version has been earmarked for stable.

Been using it for i think 2-3 months? Not sure when it was released, main reason was to check out lto improvements and while lto still has its issues (did get better, think out of 1100 packes 20 wont compile.), although im now at the point where lto is just too time consuming.
Also I compile all on O3 and cant think of any real problems. some packages reject it but forced webkit and firefox just to mess around and worked without issues. I didnt look at the open tickets or anything but started to wonder aswell why its not marked stable, it didnt have any patchfixes either for a long time. It does feel slower, but thats pretty normal in the world of compilers
i havent had a single problem and compiled a few thousand packages with it when i switched everything to it. Wait, there was actually a problem, klibc. But that ebuild is a mess and gcc5 is not the one to blame.
