Hello fellow Gentooers,
I have circumvented using any efi related stuff so far, even if my devices would be capable for it.
Playful as I am, I am questioning my previous descision and wonder if it is a good idea to switch my running box to an UEFI enabled system. I am aware that I would have to reformat the ssd using gpt. But what I want to know is: does it make sense? Will I have any advantages? Faster boot time? Future compability? What's your opinion about it?

You can also use one of the EFI boot loaders, or simply the EFI boot option, which you may consider an advantage if you are fed up with grub2, but that is personal taste. Really, EFI doesn't impact daily use.

My opinion is that it a new install should use it, but I wouldn't redo an old install. That is, unless you are bored.

Hmm, maybe not that bored. I still have to setup another multi-boot machine soon. Do you have any recommendations for an understandable guide?

Actually, the handbook has it all these days. The only thing option actually missing is rEFInd, but documentation for that is relatively easy to find if you choose to use it.
