Hello, i am new to Gentoo, this is my 3th week, and so far i am loving it :-) i got a few beginner questions i hope someone can help me out with:

Question 1: i am trying to minimize the Gentoo kernel, to specific modules just for my hardware, however when booting the system, after the Disk Encryption opens, i see a few red flags, but it goes too fast to read what they are (have not check log files yet): is this really bad or can it be ignored? (system seems to run fine)

Question 2: when starting xfce4, xorg gives some errors about "panel widget critical error no child process gtk gobject box" but i can not seem to figure out what is causing it, any ideas where to start?

Question 3: how do i disable the ssh daemon, so that ssh(client) can not be used anymore: when "emerge -C openssh" it seems to keep coming back

Question 4: i looked at the Gentoo Handbook for correctly upgrading, all software packages, to the latest version, but i see so many emerge upgrade options that i can not seem to figure out which is used to upgrade all the software on the system, when new versions get released

If the system work, probably, is not critical but it 's always better to understand what is wrong

openssh package contains both (client and server). Default openssh server is not started, for check this in openrc:
Code:
# rc-status default

or systemd
Code:
# systemctl status sshd.service
