Hi,

Further to my work on getting amdgpu-pro going, I've been considering creating a custom kernel to get rid of the dependency on the dkms module.

I've built the kernel tons of times, but I'm new to kernel dev, so I'm wondering if there's any good documentation on how to start and continue? I intend to take releases from git, 4.6.x, 4.7.x and possible rc's, apply a set of patches which implement the missing functionality in the normal amdgpu driver, ttm lru stuff, ioctl's required for vulkan/opencl, then the mess that is dal. I'll likely be taking patches from the amd-gfx ml.

But I'm not sure on the processes I should use with git (a bit of an amateur there as well).

Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Luke.
